A Great Place to Work®
We are a Great Place to Work® because of our commitment to developing our most valuable asset, our associates. Due to our size and scale, associates have access to countless training courses, including online, virtual and live classroom sessions, as well as scholarship, apprenticeship and individualized mentorship programs. Additionally, our associates can take advantage of tuition reimbursement and tuition discounts through our many university partnerships.
To ensure associates can reach their full potential, we offer a wide range of tools and resources. We take special interest in helping associates grow in their roles and provide clear career pathways to help them achieve their career goals.
To provide the best service, our associates need the best tools. Dignity University, our robust training platform, offers nearly 9,000 courses to enhance associates’ knowledge and skills. These include online instruction, in-person classroom training and instructor-led/computer-based courses to provide diverse learning opportunities. The easy to maneuver application offers personalized course work, trending topic recommendations and specific job role courses.
We seek diverse perspectives from our associates. In fact, our management skills training course, Leading With Dignity, teaches leaders to address different communication styles, establish a positive and inclusive work environment, deliver effective and actionable feedback, and execute best practices for recruiting and retaining talent. Additionally, inclusive leadership training is offered to associates to develop greater awareness in our inclusion and diversity journey. Specific job role training, such as sales management courses are also available.
We offer year-long mentorship programs throughout several of our operating areas and provide participants an active learning opportunity to grow their skills through well-matched, one-on-one partnerships. Mentors offer a global vision and broad perspective to mentees around specific business and developmental activities. The program has impacted many associates over the years, and expanded to more areas of our Company.
Day In the Life Program
New home office associates have the opportunity to participate in our Day In the Life program, which offers insight into what a typical workday entails for our teams who interact with client families. This program illustrates the delicate balance of exhibiting care and compassion while also meeting the business objectives of our Company.
Associate Resource Communities (ARCS)
Through our Associate Resource Communities (ARCs), colleagues with similar interests connect with others for networking and mentorship. Associate participation helps inspire meaningful change within the Company and helps leverage the diverse perspectives and backgrounds that make us who we are.
Our ARCs are key partners in helping us connect and engage talent, while also offering unique insight to better serve our customers, communities and each other. Our ARCs have formed partnerships with external organizations to drive progress and change, develop community programs and pursue other outreach opportunities.
The Inspire Series
Associates gain valuable personal and professional insights through The Inspire Series. This monthly webinar series is available to everyone and is led by both leaders at all levels of the Company and external experts. Topics range from work-life balance to healthy living, and all aim to help our associates' personal and professional development.
Job Posting Policy
Our job posting policy aims to foster an inclusive culture by providing associates with new experiences and opportunities within our Company. We require all open positions to be posted on our internal jobs page for a minimum of five business days so associates can apply internally for roles that align with their desired career path and qualifications. By providing transparency into open jobs within the Company, we help our associates develop their own careers and we ensure we are filling positions with candidates that offer a broad range of experiences and backgrounds.
To help our associates reach their career goals, we offer a tuition reimbursement program which allows associates to improve their job skills and technical knowledge, while defraying education-related expenses. Associates who wish to further their education may receive up to $4,000 annually through this program. In addition, we have established several university partnerships that enable associates to earn a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree at discounted tuition rates.

Associates also have the opportunity to take advantage of our ongoing Apprenticeship Program that provides the practical experience necessary to obtain a professional Funeral Director/Embalmer license. State requirements may vary.
We are proud to be one of the largest corporate sponsors of the Genesys Works internship program in Houston. This program offers high school students the opportunity to learn a variety of professional skills. Since implementing the program, we’ve employed high school seniors who are first generation college aspirants and expose them to a business environment so they may attain valuable skills that align with their prospective academic degrees.
